Rowley Morgan Pusher Tug and Barges

This project comprised of the design of a 20m Pusher Tug, coupled to one or two 45m barges for the transport of +/- 600 tonnes of timber/lumber per barge, up and down the Zaire River. Although the tugs were never built due to the untimely passing of Mr Morgan, many of the barges had already been constructed.

A well developed design and full specification of the tug remains on file, and can be used as basis for the design of a similar set of tugs and barges, or finalized as a ready design for the same application.

The operational critiera called for a very low draft, namely 1.6m, thus the tug design utilizes the twin screw, tunnel thruster concept.
