Transhipment Vessel “PEG”

The original project on the PEG (then named the Western Challenge) was to visit the vessel in Australia to establish if she was suitable to be converted from a Coal Transport Barge to a Titanium Sands transhipment vessel between the Moma jetty and an awaiting Bulk carrier.

The vessel was procured by Kenmare and the conversion involved

  1. Installation of two steerable thrusters with power packs.
  2. Loading Hopper with cantilevered conveyers for product spreading.
  3. Additional Accommodation Units
  4. Davits and Yokohama Fenders

Later the PEG was upgraded with a new Starboard Windlass

In 2024/2025 a further refit was undertalen whereby

  1. Port Windlass replaced to match the Stbd Windlass.
  2. Installation of 4 new mooring winches with associated swivel fairleaders
  3. Installation for further accommodation / office containers as well as a gym container
  4. Installation of two new control bridges
  5. Creating a new below deck machinery space to accommodate the sewage treatment plant, the water maker and water tank.
